When the world comes together for the love of the sport

It brings people together globally, making it the most-watched sporting event and a symbol of unity through sport.
The next World Cup is happening this year (2026), jointly hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
In the previous edition of the World Cup (2022) hosted by Qatar, Argentina took home the trophy, marking a historic gold medal for the first time since 1986, led by arguably the best player in the world and their captain, Lionel Messi.
They managed to hold out the lead against by far one of the strongest teams the competition has ever seen, the youthful and energetic French, who almost completed what would have been the best comeback in World Cup history, let alone footballing history, thanks to a heroic hat-trick of goals scored by star player Kylian Mbappe.

Coming closer to home...
The Singapore Premier League is the highest level of professional football in Singapore. It features local clubs as well as developing players who aim to improve their skills and gain experience. The league plays an important role in nurturing young talent and promoting football in the country. It also helps build a stronger football culture by engaging local communities and fans through competitive matches.
In the 2024/25 season, Lion City Sailors FC dominated the Singapore Premier League to secure the championship, combining consistent performances, squad depth, and strong attacking play to establish themselves as the country’s leading club. Their success extended beyond domestic football as they made a historic run in the AFC Champions League Two, becoming the first Singaporean side to reach a continental final after impressive knockout victories, including a statement win over Sydney FC. Although they ultimately fell 1–2 to Sharjah FC in the final, their campaign marked a breakthrough moment for Singapore football and cemented the Sailors as serious contenders on the Asian stage.
On Singapore Premier League matchdays featuring BG Tampines Rovers FC, the atmosphere often builds around bursts of energy rather than constant noise—families, regular fans, and small groups of ultras gathering with chants that echo through the stands when key moments happen, especially during attacking spells or late goals. At their home ground, there are clear flashes of quality on the pitch that deserve a louder stage, but the crowds can sometimes feel underwhelming for the level of football being played. This is why there is a growing appeal for more supporters to show up consistently—not just for big matches, but every week—so that the league atmosphere can grow into something more intimidating, passionate, and reflective of the talent and effort on display across Singapore football.
